Your Summer Jukebox Opera - OperaCocktail
Hey DEBUTers – Hannah here! It’s usually Lizzie who gives you the inside scoop on which opera shows to catch each summer, but this time I’ve got one for you! I’m thrilled to be touring with OperaUpClose for their summer production - OperaCocktail. Can’t wait to share it with you!
What is OperaCocktail?
Summer Sweet & Sour
A delicious cocktail of classics by Puccini, Mozart, Verdi and more, in sparkling English translations with a contemporary twist, performed by the UK’s brightest and best.
A summer’s day. A picnic. And a story of five friends trying to make sense of life and love.
Is it finally time to grow up?
Told through brilliantly evocative music including the famous Habanera from Carmen and Verdi’s timeless Drinking Song from La Traviata, OperaCocktail will move, entertain and delight.
OperaUpClose is a national touring opera company with storytelling, partnership, and innovation at its heart. Intimate in scale, mighty in impact.
Why I think you’ll love it: our DEBUT secret concerts are all about opening the doors to classical music and giving you a taste of everything - from different instruments and singers to genres like opera, musical theatre, lieder, and even improvised piano. OperaCocktail is totally in that same spirit. It’s a fun, one-hour whirlwind tour through the world of opera, featuring some of the most iconic arias - all sung in fresh, new English translations, so you can follow the story with ease. No subtitles needed (yippee!).
