Masterclass with Jo Ramadan and Horizon Artists

Jo’s recent engagements include Assistant Conductor at Drottningholm Festival for Handel’s Ariodante and at Grange Festival for Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, upcoming engagements include assistant conductor for Grange Festival’s Yeoman of the Guard. Jo is currently Director of Music at St Vedast Foster Lane as well as being a professor of vocal repertoire at the Royal College of Music and as conductor and pianist at Oxenfoord International Summer School, and is a coach and course leader for Samling. Future recitals in a new series are planned with Mary Bevan, Martha Jones, David Butt Phillip, Nicky Spence, Alex Baker and Milly Forest.
Jo began his music studies as a chorister at Chapel Royal St James Palace. After graduating from Durham University, Jostudied at the Royal College of Music with John Blakely and Roger Vignoles.
He has been accompanist for many masterclasses including those of James Bowman, Michael Chance, Sarah Connolly, David Daniels, Anne Evans, Gerald Finley, Angela Gheorghiu, Kiri Te Kanawa,
Angelika Kirchschlager, Graham Johnson,PetraLang, Jonathan Lemalu, Malcolm Martineau, Ann Murray, Lisette Oropesa, Simon Keenlyside, Amanda Roocroft, Brindley Sheratt, Robert Tear, Sarah Walker, Roderick Williams and Lawrence Zazzo, as well as a Liszt masterclass with Leslie Howard. Recital partners have included Amanda Roocroft, Nick Prtichard, David Butt Phillip, Martha Jones, Kitty Whately. He is an associate artist and principal Assistant Conductor and pianist for The Mozartists (formerly Classical Opera) with whom he has forged a strong relationship. Jo is also a Britten-Pears Young Artist and a Samling Scholar.
