Building on our reputation for providing fun, high quality musical experiences we’re continuing to develop our Know the Show opera workshop series (check out the highlights from our La Traviata day in April ‘22).
This October sees the trial of a new Know the Show format at Bishopsgate Institute’s mighty Great Hall, providing vital opportunities for emerging professional singers and instrumentalists as well as an invitation to the wider community to get involved.
There’s nothing like it in opera We’ve been inspired by London Music Theatre Orchestra’s hugely successful Sitz workshops (also in collaboration with Bishopsgate Institute) where, over the course of a single day, 100+ singers and instrumentalists come together to rehearse a score of a musical.

Community singers
Our April La Traviata workshop made it clear how great it is to unite the world of professional musicians with people who love to sing. We didn’t want to lose this! So, there are still two ways you can get involved in our Know the Show workshops:
Rehearsal day pass — 12PM - 5PM gain a behind the scenes insight into an opera rehearsal, watching as we bring together singers and instrumentalist to play though an opera score and chatting to the musicians during the breaks.
Chorus singing workshop — 3PM - 5PM if you’d love to sing (no experience required) you can join our Chorus Workshop where we’ll work on 2 of the opera choruses, uniting with the pro musicians for a play though of the pieces! (includes rehearsal day pass access)
Tickets are available through Bishopsgate Institute’s website.
Pro instrumentalists & singers
10:30 AM - 5 PM If you’re 18+ and an emerging or professional musician and would like to join us for one of our opera play-throughs, register your interest here.
Music
This month we'll be delving into Bizet’s Carmen and its flamenco-infused music, bursting with emotion and unforgettable melodies including the Habanera and Toreador Song which we'll be learning on the day.
